The 6-10 July 2026 marks Alcohol Awareness Week, coordinated by Alcohol Change UK, and is a chance to raise awareness and campaign for change. This year's theme is 'Alcohol and me', and Alcohol Change UK have a dedicated page to check your drinking to see ways in which alcohol may be impacting your health and wellbeing and read stories of change.
In May 2026, the Office for National Statistics (OND) published new figures on alcohol-specific deaths in the UK: registered in 2024, which covers deaths caused by diseases known to be a direct consequence of alcohol, by age, sex and region.
The Royal College of Physicians (RCP) is a founding member of the Alcohol Heath Alliance (AHA), which is a coalition of over 60 organisations working together to reduce the harm caused by alcohol. The AHA campaigns for evidence-based measures to tackle alcohol harm and the effects of health services. You can read the AHA full manifesto here.
