PBC Awareness Month: Keeping patients at the heart of liver care
1 September 2026

September is PBC Awareness Month

September is PBC Awareness Month - an opportunity to raise awareness of primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) and the impact it can have on people living with the condition.

For hepatology services, it is also a chance to reflect on how care can continue to put patients at the centre - from diagnosis and treatment through to ongoing support and management.

At IQILS, patient-centred care is at the heart of our approach to improving liver services. We work with services to identify opportunities for improvement, share good practice and support high standards of care.

PBC Awareness Month is a reminder that quality care is not just about clinical outcomes. It is also about understanding patients' experiences and ensuring their needs are heard and supported.

The PBC Foundation provides information and support for people living with PBC, alongside resources for healthcare professionals.
