September is PBC Awareness Month - an opportunity to raise awareness of primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) and the impact it can have on people living with the condition.
For hepatology services, it is also a chance to reflect on how care can continue to put patients at the centre - from diagnosis and treatment through to ongoing support and management.
At IQILS, patient-centred care is at the heart of our approach to improving liver services. We work with services to identify opportunities for improvement, share good practice and support high standards of care. PBC Awareness Month is a reminder that quality care is not just about clinical outcomes. It is also about understanding patients' experiences and ensuring their needs are heard and supported.
The PBC Foundation, one of the organisations we are proud to work alongside, is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. To mark the occasion, it has launched 30 for 30, a campaign to raise awareness and funds to support its ongoing work with people living with PBC.
