World Hepatitis Day 2026
27 July 2026

Raising awareness and supporting hepatitis C elimination

On 28 July, organisations around the world will mark World Hepatitis Day, a global campaign led by the World Health Organization (WHO) to raise awareness of viral hepatitis and support efforts to reduce its impact on individuals, communities and health systems.

Viral hepatitis remains a significant cause of liver disease worldwide, but prevention, testing and effective treatments can help reduce its impact. This year’s campaign highlights the importance of removing barriers to diagnosis, treatment and care. You can find out more about World Hepatitis Day and this year’s campaign on the WHO website.

As part of efforts to eliminate hepatitis C, the NHS offers a free home hepatitis C testing service in England. The simple finger-prick test provides an accessible route to diagnosis and treatment, and is a useful resource for healthcare professionals supporting people who may benefit from testing.
